The Lake District of Chile is world renowned for its stunning volcanic cones, Araucaria or Monkey Puzzle forests (think Dr. Seuss), and warm Chilean hospitality. We spend two weeks in this beautiful part of the world, skiing five of the region’s biggest volcanoes. In between ascents and descents we will sample Chilean cuisine, including its famous wines, and enjoy soaks in some of the many hot springs in the area. It’s a great adventure!
Ascents on these volcanoes range from easy, low angle skins to 40-45 degree snow climbing with the use of crampons and ice-axes. On Osorno we have the added excitement of glacier travel to reach the summit, winding past crevasses and seracs.
We are organizing a group trip to the Chilean Volcanoes for October 2010. Please call for details!
